There may be a label on the front panel giving the model number, e.g. E520

 

The motherboard has a code similar to this one.

The processor will have text on the face like this

( The example shown is an Intel Socket 775 Processor)

This text is important in order to match a motherboard for the processor.

 

The type of memory used will be either DDR or DDR2 on all models built in the last 4 years. Earlier models are likely to have 168 pin SD-Ram, but the code printed on the board will tell me what type of memory is used.
