Transforming the internals of an Advent T9102

This computer came to me as an upgrade from the standard specification.

The standard specification was Intel based using a Socket 775 LGA Intel Pentium HT550 processor. This machine had a 3.4ghz single core processor, 512mb of DDR2 memory and a thermostatic processor cooling fan that made so much noise it sounded like a jet throttling up to take off! The pc was also pretty slow.

The pc was upgraded in the following way:

Remove Existing motherboard/cpu/memory and fan as pictured below.

Install a new Asrock Socket AM2+ motherboard with AMD Athlon 64 X2 2.8ghz processor and cooling fan. I also fitted 2gb of PC5300/667mhz DDR2 memory. This kit was fitted and the existing version of Windows XP was simply restored on the "repair" option of Windows XP OEM gold cd.

The performance of this computer suddenly went from a sluggish and slow under power and under -memoried computer to a real fast machine with tons of power from the the dual core processor with so much power on tap, but barely breaking into a stroll on most jobs. See the difference below:

If you would like your ageing Emachine, Medion, Advent, Compaq, Packard Bell pc to perform like the proverbial "2 bob rocket"then contact me for more details. This upgrade cost £175.00 including labour and will stand the owner in good stead to upgrade memory, processor etc for the next 3 - 5 years. This motherboard takes all AMD processors in the Socket AM2 "die build" and all AM2+ X3 (triple core) and AM2+X4 ( quad core) processors on a simple plug'n'play basis.
